At Euroluce 2019, after two years of research, design and development, Arturo Álvarez presents Mytilus, a new lighting collection with shapes based on organic forms. The new lamps are inspired by marine creatures that dwell on the sea floor, their circular organic forms, sinuous shapes, wavy motion, the mystery of tides.
At Arturo Álvarez, the patented painted stainless steel mesh is not just some unexpected and decontextualized material, which enables unexpected shape. First and foremost, the mesh is “the language” of Álvarez, the identity recognition that grants the lamp the unusual interpretation and accomplishes the task by the designer himself: the lamp has to talk, to communicate emotion, to surprise.
Mytilus surprises with its plastic dynamism, the ephemeral impression and dance. The collection consists of Mytilus Large and Mytilus Medium pendant lamps and a wall lamp.
